Frequently asked questions
Do I need to print my ticket or is a mobile voucher accepted?
A mobile voucher is accepted. Simply present your booking confirmation on your phone at the ticket office when you collect the physical pass.
Can Japanese citizens or residents use this pass?
No. The JR Kyushu Rail Pass is exclusively for international travellers. You will need to show your passport when redeeming it.
Does the All Kyushu pass cover the Shinkansen between Hakata and Kokura?
No. That stretch runs on the Sanyo Shinkansen line, which is outside the JR Kyushu network. The pass is not valid for journeys between those two stations.
Which pass should I choose — northern, southern, or all Kyushu?
If your itinerary focuses on Fukuoka, Nagasaki, Beppu, and Oita, the Northern Kyushu pass covers those routes. For Kagoshima, Miyazaki, and Kumamoto, choose Southern Kyushu. If you plan to travel across the whole island, the All Kyushu pass gives the broadest coverage.
Where can I redeem the pass, and do I need to book a seat?
Collect your pass at any of the nine designated ticket offices: Hakata, Kokura, Mojiko, Saga, Nagasaki, Sasebo, Beppu, Oita, or Kumamoto. Some Shinkansen and limited express services require a seat reservation, which you can make at the same ticket office at no additional charge.
Is there a discount for children?
Children under 6 travel free. For children aged 6 and above, standard child-fare pricing applies — check the ticket options at checkout.
