Present your passport (with IC chip) at the counter. If your passport has no IC chip, staff will process your exchange manually. Tell the staff the date you wish to start using the pass — the 3-day validity runs from that date.

Can I use this pass on the Shinkansen?
No. The JR Kansai Mini Pass does not cover Shinkansen services. It is valid on local, express, and limited express trains within the designated Kansai area only.
Do I need to choose my start date when I buy?
No — you tell the staff at the redemption counter which date you want the pass to begin. Once activated, the 3-day validity period is fixed and cannot be changed.
Where exactly can I redeem the pass?
Kansai International Airport is the most convenient collection point. There are also redemption locations at stations in Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe. Check the JR West website for the full list of offices.
Is this pass available to Japanese citizens?
No. The JR Kansai Mini Pass is exclusively for non-Japanese citizens. You must present a valid foreign passport when collecting your pass.
Can I sit in a reserved seat with this pass?
The pass covers non-reserved ordinary car seats. If you want a reserved seat, a Green Car (first class), or a LINER train, you pay the difference at the ticket office or vending machine.
What happens if a train is delayed or cancelled during my 3 days?
The validity period is not extended due to train delays, cancellations, or suspensions. Plan your days with this in mind, particularly during adverse weather or public holidays.
