Frequently asked questions
Do I need to print anything, or is the pass fully digital?
The pass is fully digital. You activate it in the Eurail Rail Planner app on your smartphone and show it to conductors on screen — no printing required.
Can I cancel or get a refund if my plans change?
Cancellations and refunds are not available on this pass once purchased, so please confirm your travel dates before booking.
My child is 3 — do I need to buy them a pass?
Children under 4 travel free and do not need a pass, though no seat will be reserved for them. If you want a guaranteed seat, you may wish to purchase a Child Pass.
Do high-speed trains like the TGV or Eurostar require an extra booking?
Yes. Most high-speed and night trains require a separate seat reservation, which carries an additional fee. Check reservation requirements for each specific service before you travel and book well in advance.
We are a family of two adults and three children. What do we need?
Two children can travel free with one adult on the Family Card. For the third child, a separate Youth Pass must be purchased. If two adults are travelling, each adult needs their own pass.
Is this pass available to European residents?
No — the Eurail Global Pass is exclusively available to non-European residents. European residents should look at the Interrail equivalent instead.
Free cancellation
This pass is non-refundable once purchased. Please confirm your travel dates and plans before completing your booking.
